March 29, 2021 - Vanilla lice lice baby

Last week was a heck of a ride. To start it off, I found out I had LICE ON MY HEAD on Monday night so that was thrilling. We were up til 1am combing through my hair with lice shampoo. We spent all Tuesday cleaning the apartment and washing everything at the laundromat. I guess having lice is a compliment because apparently they like clean hair (me trying to find the bright side of having lice). Wahoo. Through the lice, we were able to have quite a few lessons. One of them was with Lynette! We had a member from our congregation join in with us and it went really well! We also decided that on Wednesday we would fast and pray to find someone. So we started walking around and after many strange turns and walking down long roads we met this girl named PAOLA (yep. Same name as my girl from houston AND she spells it the same way). She was on her front porch and we started talking to her and ended up giving her a Book of Mormon. We're going back over to talk with her this week! I'm v...

March 22, 2021 - My Mariiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaa

Lots of stuff happened last week! Most importantly, Maria Hernandez got baptized on Saturday!!! She is the mom of Paola- who got baptized in my first area and we had been teaching her. I wasn't able to drive to Houston for her baptism but I got to watch it on zoom and talk to her afterwards. It made me SO HAPPY. And i got to talk to Paola too 😁. We also got to paint the Cravens house so that was fun. We painted their living room, kitchen, hallway, and bathroom. Well, I can tell you what I DONT want to be when I grow up... but it looked good. We got to paint while holding their cat. It was hilarious. His head moved with the brush. And I got to hold their duck (his name is Jake from State Farm). Nice guy. We were able to have 2 lessons with Lynette last week and they were awesome. She is just awesome. I love her so much. We talked about temples and general conference. Shes starting to write down questions that she has so they can be answered while she watches general conference....

March 15, 2021 - Slow and steady

Not much happened this week- we had a lot of people cancel and the work was realllyyyyy sllooowwwww. Now it's the last week of the transfer which is really weird. I finally hung up my hammock on our porch and of course it rained the rest of the day so now half if it is soaking wet. Looking at that, I felt like that accurately described how my week went. I put in the effort but nothing really came of it. But that's life. Things can't be perfect all the time. WE can't be perfect all the time. But the Lord loves effort and as long as we're giving our best in the moment, He will take it. Even though we may get down on ourselves over the little things or get frustrated about things that are out of our control, He still loves us. His love NEVER changes. That's why He is so reliable. I love that.  I also really like this quote from Elder Dieter Uchtdorf: "patience required actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results didn’t a...

March 8, 2021 - What's the only day of the year that we're commanded to do something?

We had quite the week last week! We were able to do some service for Sister Kleinhans again and set up Easter decorations and plant flowers for her. We also got to hand out some more water bottles to the people who still dont have water.  Tuesday was my 9 month mark so Sister Ellsworth bought me lunch 🙃 and we took a photoshoot (see the 2 pics below). Then we had district council on Wednesday. One of the elders said he forgot his phone in the car so we went and grabbed it for him and we came back in and the elders were singing happy 9 months and had a cake with a candle in the shape of a 9. It made my day. Our church building is closed now because of all the water damage and mold so we will be using Zoom for the next couple months while they fix everything. Wahoo. Thank goodness for technology though. We have started teaching this girl named Leah and shes reading the Book of Mormon right now and she has so many questions it is wonderful. I love it when we are teaching someo...

I hit my 9 months TOMORROW holy crap. We had a ton of service opportunities this week so that was awesome! I lovvvveeee service. We handed out water to the people who still don't have water. We also got to slice down some banana trees at a members house with machetes. I had the time of my life. And we also raked up pine needles and leaves. It was weird doing that in February. It feels like fall 😂 We also had exchanges and zone conference. I was with Sister Becker and we had a lot of fun. We got tacos at Torchies- delicious.  I really liked this scripture from 3 Nephi 27: "And my Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross; and after that I had been lifted up upon the cross, that I might draw all men unto me, that as I have been lifted up by men even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil" Love yall!!!
