August 24, 2020 - Aflac? No, Alfred.

We actually did a lot of things last week which was nice. We took our car to the dealership and had to bike around that whole day (I love cars they are so wonderful). And then we went to CVS one night to print out some pictures to hand out. Well, actually we went to 2 CVSs. The computer at the first CVS stopped working so we went to another one a couple miles away. One of the workers there started talking to us. He was super nice! Then the conversation did a full 180 and he kinda paused and said that we were his 2nd chance. We were a little confused but then he said that a week or so ago someone asked if he wanted to go to church or something like that and he turned him down. But, he said, when he realized that we were missionaries, he saw that this was his 2nd chance. So he started asking all about our beliefs and missionaries and it was awesome. Also, the computer was suppperrrr slow there. But, I see that as a blessing in disguise because we were able to talk with him more.

Then we got to ding-dong-ditch some cookies to the youth in our ward. That was an adventure. We also got to play some games with these people in our complex. They're both from India and they want to make us some Indian food- I'm very excited for that. They were HILARIOUS! We're going to try to play games with them every week! And most importantly: I made a new friend. We went to the park and fed all the ducks and other weird looking birds to make a Facebook video. And one of them liked getting really close to me. So I named him Alfred. He's very talented- he can catch bread in the air.
I read a talk by Lawrence Corbridge called, "The Fourth Missionary." In it, he talked about how the only things we can actually give to God is our heart and our will. Everything else that we give Him- tithing, talents, gifts, time, etc.- is already His. The only thing that is truly ours is our hearts and our wills. So we can love and serve others all we want, but if our hearts aren't in it, then it does no good. I also really like how he mentioned how the US army says, "Be all that you can be". No one, not even yourself, knows your potential except for our Heavenly Father. That's why we need to turn to Him and put all our trust in Him.
Love all y'all!
