September 21, 2020 - Big foot? Nah PIG foot
SOOO many things happened last week. We volunteered at the gardens as usual and we all had a blast taking pictures and catching lizards. We got to have a lesson with Paola and her mom and it went super well. Then yesterday for church, Paola brought her friend Nelson. She's just awesome. And...... I finally got to go through the temple!!! My parents got to come to Texas and go through with me :) it was definitely a blessing that they were invited to come and that my mission president set up times to go.
Now for the title of my email- so Paola's mom called us and told us to come over to her house because she had made dinner for us. So, before eating it, I made the mistake of asking her what kind of meat it was. She then proceeded to tell us that it was pig feet...and then I realized that I was looking at their hooves on my plate. And, for some reason, I actually understand spanish for a second there and understood everything she said about the pig feet. I like meat, but my stomach got a little disturbed haha. I ate it anyways, and I don't remember what it tasted like because I was trying to keep my mind off of it.
We also got to eat lunch with Gwen at the park. I love Gwen to death, she is amazing. Literally every time we talk with her I learn something. This time, she was talking about how it isn't religion that brings us together, it's love. Not everyone has the same beliefs and that's okay. I think most times when we see that someone doesn't have the same beliefs as us, there's a wall between us and them because of our beliefs. But love breaks that wall down and sees that person as their loving Heavenly Father would see them. Long story short: we need to love everyone.
Hope you all don't get caught in a fire, hurricane, or any other natural disaster this week 😅
