October 26, 2020 - Me 'n my inmates

Last week was AWESOME we did a ton of stuff. On Thursday we did our usual service at the Japanese gardens with Donna and Barbara who are both older women and they LOVE to talk- so fun. So when we were wrapping up, it was just me, Barbara, and Hna Crandall talking and I look over at Donna and watch her pounce onto something in the grass. I died laughing because it's not a normal thing to see an old lady do that. Then she walks over to me, opens my hand, and puts this frog in my hand. It had the longest legs it was awesome. Oh and at the other gardens, we helped rake up the grass that mole crickets had destroyed on the front lawn. While we were doing that, Barret- one of the workers- started singing into a rake, "Me and my inmates, raking up sod, me and my inmates, we got caught....". It was so funny. There were like 10 workers plus us listening to him and yeah, it was a nice concert.  One day we went to Shipley Donuts to buy some donuts for the sisters. So we go through ...

I got to go on transfers last week with Sister Vlam- she is learning french AND tahitian... It was so fun! We ended up going to Whataburger for dinner. So we walked inside and looked at the menu. Then one of the workers, Julio, who was on break said to the cashier that he was paying for us! Then he asked if we spoke spanish so I said that I did and we had a conversation about how he goes to the same church building as us but cant go because his wife is sick. Anyways, we sat down near him and then I asked if we could talk with him and he was so happy and moved closer to us and I had a nice little conversation with him. Once we got our food we started to head out but then at the same time the manager kicked out this creepy guy. So we kinda just sat there not knowing what to do because the creepy guy was like right in front of our car. Then out of nowhere Julio comes and opens the door for us and then watches the guy until we were both in the car. What a blessing! We waved and told ...

Last week we did our usual service at the gardens and we got to trim back the old flowers and pull weeds. The flowers were taller than me and it was so fun. On Saturday we went to Hermann Park to do our studies and this couple came up to us and talked about how their daughter was serving in Eugene Oregon. And then the lady took a picture of us and sent it to our moms. I think that made mine and my mom's day 😂. Then that night we went to clean the church and when we walked in we scared the crap out of Bishop Farfan it was HILARIOUS. We all had a good laugh.  We had our last Friday Devotional with David Butler and wow that man is my favorite person ever. He was talking about the Second Coming of Christ and how we shouldn't be scared of it, we should be excited! He then shared a story about this lady who would always sit on her front porch, watching the sunrise and would say, "maybe today" every single morning. No one knows when He will come again, but we need to be r...

SO many things happened last week, but the most important things were: 1. Paola's baptism- she got baptized last Friday and it was awesome. She was so happy. The baptism itself was a little chaotic but it was good. So once someone is baptized, we send a picture to the whole mission. After we did this, the next morning we get a text from President Guthrie with a video of him telling us that he doesnt think that he has never seen such joy and happiness on any missionaries faces like ours and that he was so happy for us. We truly were and are so happy for Paola.  2. General Conference- oh my goodness. I went into conference with a bunch of questions and I recieved so many answers. What a blessing it is to have a living prophet today! My favorite talk was by Michelle Craig, who talked about opening our eyes and seeing people deeply. It really is important to focus on others and help them in any way that we can.  We also had transfers and I'm still with Hermana Crandall- tra...
